As a Tamariki Ora Kaiawhina, you’ll work alongside a registered Tamariki Ora Nurse to support whānau through education and health promotion, helping pēpi thrive from the very beginning. 

About Us

Based in the heart of sunny Hawke’s Bay, Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a thriving and innovative kaupapa Māori organisation. For over 40 years, we have worked alongside whānau to achieve the best outcomes through clinical and community wellness support, complemented by social, education, and personal development programmes.

Key Duties include:

  •  Support the delivery of the Tamariki Ora programme through health promotion and education
  • Support universal contact checks and discretionary checks in consultation with Tamariki Ora Nurse.
  • Promote and support the Tamariki Ora Service and ensure whanau and community are informed about the service and its importance to the health and wellbeing of Tamariki.
  • Document all Tamariki Ora contacts in the electronic health record (Indici)
  • Provide education and support services
  • Assist with access and referrals in the following areas: Breastfeeding, Dental education, Pepi development & ECE 

The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who:

  • Enjoys working with people and seeing results
  • Has the ability to motivate, educate and empower whanau
  • Is computer literate
  • Have proven experience working effectively within the community
  • Is able to work well as part of an integrated team 

Essential skills and qualifications include: 

  • A full and current driver’s licence
  • Knowledge and understanding of tikanga and Te Reo Maori
  • A First Aid certificate would be advantageous.

 This is a full-time role - (40 hours per week.)
