Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our Tāngata – People & Performance Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a well-seasoned practitioner to join an established and connected team of subject matter experts supporting our business across the full remit of HR service delivery.

About the Role

As a Senior HR Advisor, you will play an integral part of our team, contributing to the delivery of strategic and operational initiatives. In addition, this role will work closely with our managers supporting workforce strategies, enhancing management capability and driving operational HR excellence. 

Naturally you will bring a wealth of HR experience and capability across the full remit of HR service delivery.  You will have a positive, can-do attitude with demonstrated ability to lead and foster meaningful working relationships across an assigned portfolio of managers and senior leaders. 

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting strategic and operational initiatives
  • Coaching our managers through performance and remuneration processes.
  • Managing employment relations and supporting business change as appropriate. 
  • Leading organisational design and change initiatives, ensuring legislative compliance. 
  • Develop and implement HR frameworks, policies and kaupapa-aligned practices
  • Drive HR/OD projects that strengthen culture, leadership capability and organisational wellbeing.
  • Support workforce planning and provide HR insights to inform strategy and decision‑making
  • Uphold Te Ao Māori approaches and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within HR practice

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, collaborative, and ready to hit the ground running. You will already be an experienced HR practitioner with a solid foundation in HR practices, employment law and compliance. 

You will bring both expertise and heart and be willing to uphold our values and be committed to working in a Kaupapa Māori environment. 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years generalist HR experience, preferably within health and social services sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NZ employment legislation and best practice
  • Outcome-focused with strong organisational/time management skills
  • Excellent relationship‑building, communication and coaching skills
  • A commitment to tikanga and te reo Māori, and comfort working in a kaupapa Māori environment
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and HR systems
  • Strong analytical capability and reporting using HR data and insights to help inform decisions

A relevant HR qualification and prior experience in the social, community, or health sectors would be an advantage.
