Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a whānau focused, kaupapa Māori values based, health and social services organisation providing professional health services to our local Hawkes Bay community and wider Kahungunu rohe from Wairoa to Wairarapa.  Our health, social, education and community development teams have been working successfully with whānau for over 38 years.

Reporting to the Team Manager – Taiora Community, we are looking for a Rongoā Practitioner who will provide culturally responsive and respectful care and treatment to whānau involving Karakia, Mirimiri and Whitiwhiti kōrero. You will help motivate whānau to make positive lifestyle changes, reduce high-risk behaviours, manage stress and improve their health and well-being.

You will provide care in accordance with the Tikanga a Rongoā Standards (aligned with the Health and Disability Service Standards) and the agreed service specifications for Rongoā Māori Traditional Healing.

This is a part time role, one day a week (8 hours) for a fixed term from May 2024 till June 2025.

  • A relevant qualification and experience relating to Rongoā Māori 
  • Practice that is aligned with the Tikanga a Rongoā Standards
  • An ability to build strong connections to empower, motivate, educate and encourage whānau to build upon their strengths and achieve their aspirations
  • Awareness of, and a commitment to understanding the implications for Māori health that are implicit in the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Hold a clean, current and valid Full Driver’s License 
  • COVID Vaccination (2 shots)
