We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Pou Tokomanawa - Whānau Navigator to walk alongside whānau and help them access the tools and support they need to flourish.

About us

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 39 years.  Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values: Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do. 

About the Service

This role will be working alongside the Pou Tuarongo – Registered Social Worker and working in partnership with Ngāti Kahungunu and Oranga Tamariki, to reduce the number of tamariki coming to the attention of or in the care of Oranga Tamariki. It is a collaborative, strengths-based approach that places tamariki and whānau at the centre. This role is part of an early and intensive intervention service designed to reduce the need for statutory involvement and build sustainable whānau wellbeing.

As a key part of our early and intensive intervention service, you’ll work collaboratively with whānau and community partners to develop tailored, empowering solutions that promote safety, strength, and self-determination.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build strong, respectful, and enduring relationships with whānau and partners.
  • Assist with identifying needs and developing whānau plans based on their goals and aspirations.
  • Provide ongoing, hands-on support as whānau implement their plans.
  • Work alongside other agencies to ensure services are well-coordinated and whānau-centred.
  • Ensure all interactions are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and empowering.

 What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience working with whānau in a community, health, or social service setting.
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural responsiveness in practice.
  • New Zealand Diploma in Child protection or equivalent (Or able to complete within 6 months of starting the position).
  • Ability to connect, build trust, and walk alongside whānau with care and compassion.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and advocacy skills.
  • A passion for supporting others to achieve their goals and strengthen their future.
