We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Support Workers for our Mental Health residential service - Ararau.

We have 2 residential homes based in Flaxmere, one for Tane, one for Wahine, providing support to our long term and aging whaiora living with low to medium mental health conditions in our local community.  With a small number of whaiora in these homes, our Support Workers provide them with support to live in clean, tidy, comfortable homes providing day to day structure and support. We are reintroducing working in pairs across our two residential homes, with 1 kaimahi in each home, on each 8 hour shift.

The Role

  • Assist whaiora with getting up and ready for their daily activities
  • Assist whaiora with daily routines like kai preparation, personal cares and laundry.
  • Drive whaiora to Day programme activities
  • Assist with shopping and coordinate and supervise outings and activities.
  • Medication supervision
  • Check on the whaiora during night shift [wake over]
  • Keep the whare clean and tidy
  • Enter case notes and complete through handover with the next shift

What we are looking for: 

  • Experience in a Mental Health or Aged Care or Disability Care service
  • Level 4 Certificate in Mental Health Support Work or Health and Wellbeing or similar or working towards 
  • Medication competency training
  • Current First Aid Certificate 
  • Full Driver's Licence
  • Able to demonstrate providing care with aroha and respect 

Available shifts:
We are looking for Kaimanaaki for
Day Shift: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm [40 hours]
Afternoon Shift: Monday to Friday 4pm to 12pm [40 hours].
Night Shift: Monday to Friday 12pm to 8am [40 hours]

Weekends: We are also looking for permanent part-time kaimaahi to work part-time on the weekends.
Days: Saturday and Sunday
Shifts:
Day Shift: 8am to 4pm
Afternoon Shift: 4pm to 12pm
Night Shift: 12pm to 8am

Casual Mahi:  If you are available for Casual mahi, we are also looking to build up our casual workforce.
