About Us
Oranga Niho is a Foundation-accredited dental service, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to over 1,500 enrolled patients. We’re part of Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, a kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation that’s been walking alongside whānau and hapori for over 40 years. Our values: Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga, and Whānaungatanga, guide everything we do.

About the Role
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), Monday to Friday, perfect for someone looking for family-friendly hours.

You’ll be the first friendly face our whānau see when they arrive, helping them feel welcome, informed, and supported throughout their dental journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting navigation through the To Waha pathway
  • Booking appointments and following up on missed visits
  • Assisting with enrolments, referrals, and paperwork
  • Providing approved oral health information
  • Helping with transport and childcare support during appointments

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a warm, approachable personality and great people skills
  • Brings experience in medical/dental admin (Indici experience a bonus!)
  • Is professional, reliable, and maintains confidentiality
  • Understands or is open to learning about tikanga Māori and te reo
  • Holds a full driver’s licence and a current First Aid Certificate
  • Has (or is working towards) NZQA Level 3 or 4 in Health & Wellbeing or similar

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Understanding of primary or community healthcare
  • Familiarity with the Health and Disability Code of Rights
  • Knowledge of tikanga and te reo Māori, or a willingness to learn
  • Enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and flexibility

What we offer:

  • A supportive, caring team environment
  • A chance to make a real difference in people’s lives
  • Family-friendly hours
  • A role that’s rich in purpose and community connection

If you’re passionate about people and community, this role offers a fulfilling way to give back, with hours that support a work-life balance

We’ll be screening applications before the end of the year, with the successful applicant starting in the New Year.
