We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our new service, Te Punga o Hauora. This is an exciting new initiative to ensure Māori have improved health outcomes across the cancer continuum from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, palliative care and survivorship.
The purpose of this role is to facilitate high quality coordination of care across a range of services and providers to ensure whanau are receiving the care they need. This role will be supported by Health Coaches, other services in Taiwhenua and in our wider community. The role covers whānau in Heretaunga and Central Hawkes Bay.

We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 39 years. The Service
The service will focus on:
Prevention – promoting and educating about cancer prevention and health checks
Rapid diagnosis – support with receiving a diagnosis as soon as possible and co-ordination between services.
Support and Advocacy – available to support and navigate appointments and follow up. Removing barriers for access and ensure support services are engaged.
What You’ll Do:
- With a manaakitanga approach you will tautoko whānau to navigate complex health processes.
- Use the 8 Principles of the Te Aho o Te Kahu Cancer Care Pathway to underpin the mahi.
- Be guided by Māori models of practise and knowledge of Te Ao Māori in all engagement with whanau.
What You’ll Bring:
- Registered Nurse with current APC
- An understanding of the cancer care pathways from diagnosis to palliative care
- Knowledge of Te Ao Māori
- Proven ability working with Māori in a supportive way
- A Full Drivers License
